Thinking of making the switched to Notice Hair Co. shampoo and conditioner bars? My review of the shampoo and conditioner bars and why it’s a great switch towards a more eco-friendly life.

I’ll admit – my level of understanding and consideration for making eco-friendly choices is lagging. I’m a wee bit embarrassed to say it but it wasn’t until after Amelia was born I truly started looking at our Earth and what we’re doing to it out of convenience. But, it’s the truth, and I imagine I might not be the only one really realigning and focusing on making more eco-friendly choices.
Enter Unwrapped Life – a zero waste and sustainable living company with a mission to eliminate single-use plastics and revolutionize packaging. Switching to Unwrapped Life shampoo and conditioner bars set a fire in my belly to be a more conscious consumer.
About Notice Hair Co.
Notice Hair Co., formally Unwrapped Life, was started by two Canadian friends in Calgary, AB who saw a need for change. They recognized that to protect our plant we needed to make informed, conscious purchases – and it needed to start happening now.
With a passion for spreading eco-awareness and educating consumers about zero waste alternatives to cut down on single use plastics and excessive packaging Notice Hair Co. does it a whole lot different. They provide zero waste alternatives for hair and body care and single use plastics with compromising of quality and effectiveness.
How does Notice Hair Co. promise to do it differently?
Notice Hair Co. promises to do everything differently. With the belief and ability to prove that shampoo doesn’t need to be in a bottle, they provide an alternative and effective option.
If you want to live a more eco-friendly life Notice Hair Co. is giving you the ability to make those conscious decisions – with no sacrifice.
In addition to banning the bottle and contributing to the plastic waste in landfills and waterways (did you know only 9% of plastics can be recycled?!?!) Notice accesses their environmental impact in every aspect of their business.
When you order, the packaging you’ll receive your products in is completely paper based – recyclable paper products, small cardboard boxes, paper tape, and minimal packaging.
They does not accept returns because of the environmental impact of reverse shipping. Did you know reverse shipping creates an extraordinary amount of waste annually as well as carbon dioxide emissions.
I mean it – they’ve thought of it all when it comes to running an eco-friendly company.
Why draw a hard line? Of course, the environmental impact but it’s more. It’s about encouraging you as the customer to break our excessive ‘throw away’ behaviour and buy only what we need and chose wisely.
This hit home for me – not only with hair and beauty products but fast fashion. Once my eyes were open to the environmental and social impact of my own throw away behaviour I couldn’t ignore it.
The truth is the changes were easy. I wasn’t missing out. I am purchasing better quality products that are eco-friendly and cost effective.
Mission accomplished!
Are Shampoo and Conditioner Bars Effective?
What held me back from making the switch to shampoo and conditioner bars earlier was wondering how effective they would be. I imagined scrubbing the head with little lather and using a ton to get the job done. I was pleasantly surprised this was not the case in the slightest.
I have a head full of thick hair and was doubtful a bar could lather the way I needed for my hair. With just a little rub and shampoo bars turn into a beautiful, foamy lather.
The results: clean, healthy, smooth hair.
There is no compromise on quality and effectiveness using shampoo and conditioner bars to make an earth-friendly, low-waste, and plastic-free choice.
How many washes does a shampoo bar last?
Back to my initial fears, I thought I would be buying shampoo and conditioner bars once a month. If not more because of how much hair I have.
Wrong! Each shampoo bar can last between 50-75 washes. It all depends on how often you’re washing your hair.
Since switching to shampoo and conditioner bars I am only needing to wash my hair one to two times a week. This means I’m purchasing new bars once every 4 or more months.
Given how many washes you can get from one shampoo and conditioner bar it is not only an eco-friendly choice eliminating excessive packaging but cost effective.
This is where I think Notice Hair Co. really drives home their mission: empowering everyday people to take responsibility for the waste we product, the products we purchase, and the impact we have on our own lives, and the environment. Products are made with high quality ingredients, work great, and are cost effective. The switch is easy – you’re getting exactly what you need and making a change that benefits our environment.

Is it only Shampoo Bars?
That’s the great thing! Notice Hair Co. is known for its solid shampoo and conditioner bars but there’s more! There are more skin loving products like soap, shave bars, a line designed for tackling tangles for children and a line for delicate baby skin.
To go along with hair and skin care bars there are organic bamboo washcloths and rounds.
Want to level up your efforts to tackling single use plastics? You can find reusable stainless steel straws, organic bags, and dish clothes.
How to Use Shampoo Bars
I asked myself this question and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised that because of the lovely lather you get it’s easy and doesn’t require any ‘scrubbing’ as I thought.
If you’re a visual person like me Learn to Lather from Start to Finish so you can see the switch really is that easy!
Which Shampoo and Conditioner Bar is right for me?
Ah, great question – there are so many great choices I really didn’t know where to start at first.
My personal favourite is The Balancer because of the texture of my hair: wavy, frizzy, and a mind of its own. With ingredients like turmeric and calendula it normalizes follicle activity, boosts collagen production, and nourishes your roots.
HEY speaking of ingredients like turmeric and collagen those are a few ingredients that contribute to Glowing Skin – no wonder The Balancer is a great option for smoothing and calming your scalp.
