Confession: I don’t love Halloween. I know, I know, it’s an unpopular opinion but hear me out.
I want to love Halloween but I truly dislike the ‘dollar store threw up’ theme that comes with it. I want to be festive, but I have two issues: I don’t want a ton of crap or a ton of waste. Tell me you can relate?
But I’m evolving. As a mother now I want to be festive and create traditions with the kids as they grow up. I draw the line at all the tacky stuff though.
Rest assured, I have a solution. I’ve brainstormed a few minimalist Halloween décor ideas that won’t cramp your style and isn’t wasteful.
Black Plants
I can’t tell you how much I loved how these plants turned out and it took 10 minutes TOPS. All you need is a can of matte black spray paint, an assortment of plants, and a few vases.
A little tip to make this DIY Black Plant project a super cost effective. Head to your local Michaels and buy plants and vases from the clearance section. I purchased everything from the summer clearance sale for 70% off.

Literally SO simple but not overpowering. Hanging from a nail or draped across your mantel, it’s an easy way to add a little thematic decor.
Switch out Artwork
I swear this might be the easiest hack there is.
I took a cheeky print I made and swapped out the print in my frame with it. The best part: it cost me 80 cents!
Aside from this cheeky print, I picked up frames from the dollar store and printed these amazing black and white illustrations. I took down the three frames in my living room and replaced them with the news ones. Easy peasy!
