Get rid of frizzy hair at home by making simple changes to your hair care routine including product recommendations!

I am not exaggerating when I say this is a well researched blog post! I have spent countless dollars and way too much time trying to figure out how to get rid of frizzy hair with no – until now!
The best part? These simple changes are just that: simple! No fuss, not additional time or tools; just selecting good quality products and turning the temperature on your showerhead.
I’ve tried many products and techniques and these changes have made all the difference for minimizing the frizziness of my hair.
How to Get Rid of Frizzy Hair
1. Learn about your hair
Maybe this seems obvious but if you’re following someone on Instagram with coil curls and hoping to get that same look without that hair type, nothing is going to work. One of my many jobs throughout university was washing hair at a salon and I can remember the frustration on a stylists face when a client asked them to recreate a style for someone with drastically different hair.
So first things first, do your research! Start with learning about your curl pattern or maybe lack thereof. Check out the patterns below to get a better sense of your hair type. My personal curl pattern is a 2a in the front and a 2c in the back (yep, two different patterns and that might be true for you too)
To dive deeper into your hair type and why it matters, check out this blog post from the Virgo blog. You’ll find more information about your type and tips for caring for it!
I have a combination of 2A and 2C waves because the back of my hair is widely curlier than the front but knowing that has helped me learn how to care for and style it!

2. Take care of your scalp
I’ll be honest – I have been notoriously cheap when it comes to hair products and, as you know, simple is the name of the game for me. So the idea of adding in more steps to washing my hair was one I was pretty resistant to.
At some point I noticed I was constantly itching my scalp and decided to get a sample size of the Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo – and I was a changed woman!!! Not only was my scalp no longer itchy but my hair was SO smooth and my waves were more defined.
If you’re adding good quality products to take care of your scalp and hair here’s a few others in my routine:
- Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Serum
- Phillip Adam Curly Hair Shampoo
- Phillip Adam Thirsty Hair Conditioner
- a Hair Towel Wrap
- and a Wide Tooth Comb for in the shower
3. Take the Plunge
It’s time to make the switch to washing your hair in cold water! Trust me, I was as resistant as you but I’ve noticed SUCH a difference that now I can’t look back!
Why? Cold waters prevents hair from losing its natural oils and helps conditioners work better!

So there you have it! Three simple changes that will help you get rid of frizzy hair! Will you take the plunge? I promise, it will be worth it!
