It’s time to act on the words we’ve all said, be quiet, and learn

I can speak up and I haven’t I have let fear ho

I can speak up and I haven’t

I have let fear hold me back and I have chosen to live ignorantly

This dialogue is too important to not ask more questions. Fear has no place in my life when people of colour are dying and ignorance continues to allow that to happen.

I spent this weekend absorbing this discomfort I was feeling and knowing I need to do better

I want to build a platform for learning; learning hard things. Learning to dismantle the way I think might be the biggest and most important conversation we’ll ever have. I’m here wanting to grow, and I hope you are too.

I am asking for help. Which stories need to be told? Who do I need to be following? What resources are there to teach my children?
If it’s fear holding you back, like me, ask the wrong questions but ASK. Without change the messed up status quo that has been accepted in our broken world remains.

I won’t contribute because of ignorance anymore and I won’t raise children with their heads in the sand when women of colour are burying their children because of a system of beliefs upheld based on their skin colour while mine has afforded me safety
So I’m asking, please share any resources and I will continue to share.

are you feeling the exhaustion of this Groundhog Day state of things? The silver lining - having zero plans in the way of sleep. Sweet dreams, friends 🥂

talk about instagram vs. reality, today was not a pretty picture⁠
⁠
the little one down in front was a overflowing with feelings and today I just couldn't⁠
⁠
I wanted to, but I couldn't take the big emotions ⁠
⁠
can you guess what came next?⁠
⁠
a outpouring of guilt couple with a whole lot of tears⁠
⁠
but, I'm grateful for this life⁠
⁠
not everyday is pretty but everyday I learn more and more about myself as a woman⁠
⁠
so, I let it go. Guilt has no place here. I gave myself grace and I grounded myself in what I could do next. ⁠
⁠
how are you doing? have you felt like you hit your breaking point?⁠
⁠
if today was that day, let it go. ⁠
⁠
something I repeat often to myself is 'I am a work in progress, and that's ok' - it makes moments when I feel defeated easier to find the lesson in and move forward⁠
⁠

yesterday I learned a colleague from my first job

yesterday I learned a colleague from my first job when I left teaching passed away, suddenly⁠
⁠
my heart ached when I learned how quickly she was taken from her family⁠
⁠
I thought of her husband, her young children, and all of the people whose lives she had touched - and there were many, the stories flooding me ⁠
⁠
In those moments I could hear her voice even though it had been years since we'd spoken in her - but my heart still ached thinking about her and those who were suffering⁠

I thought of all of the people mourning right now and started to cry
⁠
I've been reading Untamed by @glennondoyle and it has flipped my way of thinking on its head - and I'm better for it⁠
⁠
She said 'empathy is my superpower' and my mind was 🤯⁠
⁠
ME⁠
⁠
I feel strongly when those around me are hurting - I feel it in my whole body
⁠
I've always known I think empathy has saved me from a lot of anger and hurt but I think it’s even more; it makes me ME⁠
⁠
I relate. I feel. I connect⁠. ⁠
and I do think it's my superpower ⁠
⁠
My heart is heavy, and it’s been heavy a lot these past few months. I’ve cried countless times. I mourn for so many people I don’t even know.

I think of my colleague and think of how incredible her reach was. How many were impacted by her life.
I hope knowing that being empathic is my strength, not a weakness, means I am living a life where I am connecting with people on a deeper level.

it was simple & it was perfect

I’m 32 and have never felt better - celebrating with my little family made me feel so special. Thank you for the porch deliveries, the sweet messages, and the reminder I’m surrounded by incredible people

hitting reset
the anxiety of yesterday has completely wiped me. Anyone else feel that?
Time to hit reset
I’m not barreling through. I’m pampering my little ol’ face with some extra TLC (if you haven’t tried @gardencityessentials coconut and charcoal exfoliate and mask, go now!) I’m forgoing my workout, taking a bath, and drinking tea in bed reading Untamed by @glennondoyle because that’s what I need tonight

I’m so grateful to have a job so that we can stay home with our kids but it’s tiring. Conference calls while juggling diaper changes (it happened) and snack requests it would be easy for me to lose myself in all of it.
But I’m conscious - I’m not crashing this time.
So I’m leaning in to what makes me feel good and hitting reset

if this past (however many) weeks has taught me anything it's that there is potential ⁠
⁠
just as the world started pivoting so did @its.erintrafford and she pulled together an amazing group of women who have since made me reclaim my thoughts, pushing me to pivot⁠
⁠
we talked last week about what is the biggest thing that is holding us back right now ⁠
⁠
I sat with that question and recognized that my biggest challenge right now is fear⁠
⁠
fear of failing, fear of being absent, fear of getting rundown ⁠
⁠
I gave my fear an outlet telling the women of The Strategy Collective that I've be so exhausted that I feel like I can't keep up with anything⁠
⁠
OK, yes, there is reason for exhaustion working full time from home with two kids. But, I know it's deeper than that. Exhaustion is fear holding me back. ⁠
⁠
It felt so good getting that off my chest and learning that so many of the other women were exhausted from their own fears. The amazing thing though - I let it go. ⁠

From that conversation I think it was clear, we all needed that moment to pivot and each other to be honest with. ⁠
I'm still exhausted but I'm excited and I'm inspired⁠
⁠
What's your biggest challenge standing in your way? Aside from the obvious ‘stuck in the house’ part.
