This year’s Vegan Eggnog review included one brand new product and two you’ve seen before. I’m sharing my thoughts on taste, texture, and ingredients.

Let’s kick this off with a quick YAY or NAY for the traditional holiday beverage that is Eggnog – are you a fan? Personally, I am!
Growing up I looked forward to eggnog each and every year. I would drink it by the glass – which as an adult makes me cringe now. You get the picture though.
Here I am, a grown woman who developed a significant egg intolerance so my beloved beverage is just not for me.
Rest assured if you’re like me and your body just doesn’t agree, you’ve chosen a plant-based diet, or you’re conscious of the fact the traditional eggnog isn’t the healthiest option.
Enter the 2021 Vegan Eggnog Review! I have you covered with everything from texture to flavour of the plant-based holiday nogs on the market this year. Back in 2020 I shared Three Vegan Eggnogs with Classic Eggnog Taste but this year there are some new products and I’m excited to make this year’s vegan eggnog review a bit more thorough. You know I love that you can trust my feedback so you don’t need to do it yourself!!
You ready to dive in so you can start enjoying the ‘nog!!
Vegan Eggnog Review
Earth’s Own Oat Nog
Last year when I did this taste test Earth’s Own had a holiday nog made with almond milk. It was mild tasting, a little lighter in texture than tradition eggnog, but boasting that nutmeg smell that personally hooks me. I liked it but this year Earth’s Own took it up a notch with OAT NOG and I am here for it.
First and foremost, for me it’s the beautiful nutmeg aroma that hooks me. It also has the least amount of sugar and, EVEN MORE, the oats are grown using 7 times less water than almond or cow’s milk. Hell freakin YA for being innovative and eco-conscious. I also appreciate that, unlike the almond nog from last year, the oat nog does not need to be refrigerated until opened so you can stock up when you see a good sale!
Earth’s Own is a Canadian company based company with a simple mission to get people to eat more plants for our planet and for our health. Why? Also simple. Plants use less water, land and energy and are more nutritious.
So Delicious Coconutmilk Holiday Nog
If what you love about eggnog is the texture, this is a winner. To me it most resembles the thickness of traditional eggnog. It also has that lovely nutmeg scent I can’t get enough of. This is also packaged in a carton that doesn’t need to be refrigerated until opened – a win for sale watchers like me.
Different from the Earth’s Own Oat Nog, this holiday nog doesn’t have cinnamon which I did enjoy. It also boasts more sugar than the oat nog.
Additionally, this brand is verified non-GMO and is certified gluten free.
Califia Farms Holiday Nog
This holiday nog is an almond base and is made with a rather unique combination of ingredients including fruit and vegetable juices.

Admittedly, this was my least favourite for a few reasons:
- It does need to be refrigerated (no sale shopping!!)
- It was a thinner texture – too thin to match the traditional stuff
- It didn’t yield that same nutmeg scent and was more ginger heavy in taste
- It also boasts more sugar than the oat nog
So there you have it! The Earth’s Own Oat Nog was a favourite for me! All would be great substitutes for the good ol’ stuff if you’re looking to go plant-based this holiday season.
Cheers!
