Soup is a great way to stay hydrated, full, and healthy. Here are 20+ Healthy Soup Recipes your taste buds will approve of.
What is your all time favourite meal? You might think I’m crazy but mine is grilled cheese with tomato soup – hands down! If I had to eat one thing only it would be that!
I love soups of all kinds. What I love is that they are great for keeping you hydrated (your winter skin will thank you), can be packed with healthy ingredients, and super tasty. Today I’m rounding up over 20 of my favourite Healthy Soup Recipes.
Are Homemade Soups Healthy?
Simply put, yes! It really comes down to ingredients. If you are choosing to make soups with healthy ingredients then soups are an excellent choice.
One part of your body that will love soup is your skin. Not only are the healthy soup recipes I’ve rounded up hydrating because they are mostly liquid but many contain ingredients that contribute to glowing skin like spinach, peppers, and turmeric. Why is Canned Soup Bad?
I’m not a big fan of saying foods are bad but I think there are clear benefits to homemade. Most canned soups are very high in sodium, have added sugars, and other additives. That’s not true of all canned soups. If you’re looking for canned soups, here’s a few great options:
The Benefits of Bone Broth
When I’m not feeling well or feel like I need a good reset I turn to bone broth. I suppose technically it’s not a soup but it is wonderful to sip on alone or as the base of a soup.
You can make your own bone broth very simply. Here is my favourite recipe from Against All Grain.
If making it from scratch isn’t your cup of tea or your crunched for time there are bone broth powders available.
What if your vegan? No worries, veggie broth and powders have amazing benefits too.
If you’re local to St. Catharines, Ontario you can purchase locally made Bone Broth and Veggie Broth from Small Batch Juice Co.
I have to confess I’m not a huge fan of store bought or powders because they aren’t as flavourful as homemade bone broth. BUT none other than The Minimalist Baker has a 5 minute Tonic recipe to make it yummy.
